“The composition and melodies of the songs are both brilliant and catchy. The rhythm section is ballsy and drives their songs along.” ~AltSounds.com

“Despite the absolutely inane spelling of their band name, I was immediately smitten.  The trio had an infectious, boyish energy that spilled out into the Highdive, as they plunged forward into playful, punk-influenced rock.  ReVoltReVolt has been traveling with Built to Spill for most of their fall tour, and the Iowa trio looked like precocious teenagers compared to the seasoned musicianship of Built to Spill.  With ear-to-ear grins and gleeful energy they attacked their instruments, producing spirited, uncomplicated, high-energy rock.  They love what they do, and it’s incredibly contagious.” ~Penseyeview.com

From  www.sonicdissonance.com: The overriding thought with Chordata, is how this Boise, Idaho band would have fit right into the mid 90s scene, showing up at hundreds of rock clubs every year, playing with bands like Guided By Voices, Mudhoney or Built to Spill.

Fans progressively lining up closer to the stage as they realize this band is worth listening to, and isn’t just some hack band the local club signed up to fill a time slot.
No, ReVoLtReVoLt would have had the indie world at its fingertips. Guitar crunches, vocals that would have otherwise seemed out of place in the burgeoning indie/alternative rock radio era.

And still, RR would dredge on. They’d play 300 more shows the next year, visiting many of the same little clubs just because they felt like playing some kick ass rock ‘n’ roll for 1 or 300 or 5,000 people.

It never really mattered. All that mattered, was the music. Chordata would encapsulate anybody willing to lend an ear, and even if it didn’t stick long term, the memory of seeing ReVoLtReVoLt tear up the stage would live on forever.

Only now, it’s 2010, and RR’s sound will probably hit home best with bloggers and critics like me who went through our formitive musical ages in the early to mid 90s. Then we reap loads of praise on the band for being different from all the math rock and the emo and the whatever the next big thing is. And in the end, ReVoLtReVoLt won’t care too much about what any one critic says about their album.

No, instead, they’ll line up 300 more shows for 2011 and tour with somebody like Built to Spill or Mudhoney and show some unaware rock fans what a good time really is when they’re on stage.

Hmmm, maybe 2010 isn’t so different from the mid 1990s afterall….. ~ sonicdissonance.com

Since emerging in August 2007, ReVoLtReVoLt’s shockwave sound continues to tighten immensely. Their Thursday night show at Neurolux opening for Woven Bones was no different: electrifying as usual.

“Chris Bock, Jasin Serna and Ben Brunn’s progressive rock tones paint a post-apocalyptic war zone landscape. The semi-short songs contain ferocious subject matter, beginning understated like bubbles popping out of hot lava, then gaining momentum, revving up with raw energy until mounting to a tribal thunder collision.”

“The band shares unbeatable priceless moments like in “Farewell Address” when Serna, Bock and Brunn line up in precise perfection like a firing squad unloading three rounds in choreographed synchronicity.” Heidi Kraay – Boise Performing Arts Examiner.com *Review 8/12
